Update

So I am trying to hard to start posting in a blog for everyone to keep updated. The past few months have been a whirlwind in our family. Gavin has been in and out of the hospital (mostly in) since he was born so spare time is like a joke at our house. However, the birth of this little miracle has both strengthened our family and our faith.

At this time Gavin is home. We all are. So nice! It's no surprise to anyone that we would like nothing more than to all be home together and spend the time doing nothing except being with eachother. Yep, we are kind of lame. we go to bed at 9 pm and spend all our spare time with eachother, and we love it! So needless to say being separated between hospitals and home through this time was tough.

Gavin is doing great. He is eating well at home. I nurse him as much as possible and we give him thickened breastmilk in bottles when he is to tired to nurse. This helps to prevent the aspiration issue that landed him in the hospital last time. We do have feeding tubes and a pump at home, but so far, we haven't had to use it! His pulmonologist says that he has mild BPD and they expect him to grow out of all his respiratory issues and have little to no long term effects from the ventilator. Huge praise to God! The cardiologist says that the pulmonary hypertention that they previously saw is gone and his heart is perfect. Awesome! And the small things that were orignally seen on cranial U/S are also gone. The brain scans also show no signs of CP. So even though he has had quite a long road since birth, we are in the best situation we could ask for for a 24 weeker! His health is in the 1st percentile for his birth age. Meaning 99% of children born at that time are sicker than he is. WOW. We feel like God has very special plans for our little Gavin.

As for his big brothers. Aiden just celebrated his 2nd birthday and is talking up a storm. He is coping his big brother as much as possible and learning so fast. Ethan is doing great in school. Mastered all his letters and working on reading and writting. He starts soccer again this week and is very excited. They are both adapting very well to being a big brother. Better than we expected really!

Thank you all so much for your thoughts and prayers throughout all this.

Emily
